EPIPHANY CATS

Cattery of Distinction

Give her but a wavering leaf-shadow of a breeze combing the grasses and she was back a million years, glaring with night-lit eyes in the thickets, projecting a terrible aura of fear that stilled and quelled all creatures
.

My name is Janet Riggan

I was first introduced to the Persians in November of 2000, where I fell madly in love with them.

Owning and breeding the Persians, has brought me one of  my greatest joys. I have never considered this a business I'm to small, only as a hobby, and of course they have done wonders for my well being.

My first kitten Taffy, was a red tabby short hair, my parents gave her to me when I was four. My little sister was just born and I guess they didn't want me to be lonely. Taffy was my best friend, we did everything together and when I started school she was always waiting for me when I got home.  We were together for a long time and when she passed I was devastated. There have been many times when I thought I could hear her or feel her beside me on my bed. That love and the bond we shared together has comforted me throughout my life.

I have always been involved with animals, I wanted to be a veterinarian when I was in high school. I went to Seattle to visit family and buy school clothes for the upcoming school year. Instead of coming back with school clothes, I came back with a puppy. Of course my mom was upset no clothes, but, she loved my puppy. When I graduated high school that year and got married, my mom kept my puppy.

Being married to my children's father, our family was always involved with the kitties and dogs. We raised English Pointers, which we competed in field trials with. I had a Norwegian Elkhound that I showed in AKC shows as a puppy. We always had kitties that were indoor, outdoor cats. I guess my first attempt at breeding was when I had a domestic longhair that I wanted to breed it to a friends boy that was also a domestic longhair. I wanted longhaired kittens, little did I know that years later it would lead me to the Persian breed.

So here I am, a Persian breeder who is totally commited to being the best breeder that I can possibly be. It takes a lot of time and hard work. You are constantly learning new things about health, grooming, breeding, and the list goes on forever.  With the Lords love and guidance I will be able to reach the goals that I have set for my
self.

Stately, kindly, lordly friend condescend here to sit by me, and turn Glorious eyes that smile and burn

Epiphany Cats first started in November, 2000. We brought in two little four year old girls, Missy, a black that carried chocolate out of the Cactus Way lines and Chloe, a tortoiseshell out of the Magicious lines.

Michael had owned a red tabby Persian boy for sixteen years, when he passed on, Michael waited for three years to find just the right kitties to add to our family. Our first Christmas was so much fun, the girls were completely enamored with the tree and the bright lights and ornaments. We thought they might get into the tree or play with the ornaments, but they were perfectly content to watch. I had never owned a Persian before and fell madly in love with them, they made the most adorable chirpy sounds and followed you all over the house. Of course they slept on our bed and were always there to give their help and advice they are quite the talkers.

We decided to breed the girls, so we went to the cat shows in the Portland, Oregon area. I met and talked to the breeders that were showing. I met Jan and Paul Weiser with Catwalk Cattery in Auburn, Washington. Jan was very helpful and answered a lot of my questions.
We looked for a male to bring into our home and found Jazz a Seal pt. Lynx out of the Myhimmies line from Colorado. We eventually moved to Florida where we brought in a Champion Chocolate boy Magic shell. We lived in Florida for several years then moved back to Oregon.

It has been a long journey with lots of life lessons learned. We have concentrated on producing chocolate and lilac and have added other color patterns. We are concentrating on producing healthy well socialized kitties
